The artifacts of our peoples varied depending upon the location. For example, our clans' ancestors from the Eastern Woodlands wore animal skins throughout the year and animal skin furs in colder seasons.
Jewelry consisted of shells, leather pieces, bones, or various types of stone. Exhibit 2 shows one of our clan's Kuxi, or blankets, as each clan has a different animal or element representing their clan.
Additionally, pearls were also worn by our Southeastern ancestors, due to their accessibility, from freshwater mussels along the gulf and Mississippi River. Pearls were worn and traded along with the furs.
